Resolution T13 from our Tokyo meeting directed John Reid to remind members
of the conditions for, and the electronic format of the contents of,
submissions to the repository. He has sent me the appended document for
inclusion in the next (post Tokyo) distribution, and also for circulation
by email.

May I remind everyone that T13 also requests member bodies to submit
requirements to the convenor no later than 15 September 1995. The current
version of the repository is in the process of being updated following the
release of the draft CD for Fortran 95, and will be placed on the WG5 file
server as soon as that is set up.

(Still Acting Convenor ;-)

Subject: Conditions and format of submissions to the repository

1. Conditions

Items for the repository may be submitted by national bodies, by WG5,
or by the convenor. Miles tells me that he intends to use his priviledge
to submit items as convenor very rarely, only in cases where this will
substantially ease the work of WG5. Individuals (including Miles himself)
should submit proposals through their national bodies.

2. Electronic format

The repository is currently held as an ascii file. I would like to
continue this practice. It means that it can be emailed and printed
easily everywhere. And I would like items to be sent to me as ascii
files, please, preferably by email but 3.5-inch PC-formatted floppies
are equally acceptable.

3. Template

Here is a template, which you may find helpful for creating items:

...............................

Number: <Allocated by repository editor>

Title: <one-line title>

Submitted By: <name of national body>

Status: For Consideration

References: <list of N numbers of relevant WG5 documents> <other
references, e.g. to sections of the standard>

Basic Functionality: <A brief description of the proposal (up to about
10 lines)>

Rationale: <A brief explanation of why it is needed (up to about 20
lines)>

Estimated Impact: <Whether this will affect other language features
and mean that wide-ranging edits to the standard will be needed.
Whether it will be hard to implement in compilers. Whether it will
slow compilation. Whether it will slow program execution.>

Detailed Specification: <Whatever further details are available or a
reference to a document that contains them.>

History: <Null unless there is a history of presentations to WG5>
