SUBJECT: Proven Fundraiser or Holiday Favorite???
Message-Id: <200012100707250.SM00269@3h1dQTe62 >

Headline: This Proven Fundraiser Is Also a Family Favorite

If you have ever been involved with raising money for a group or if you enjoy special holiday foods, this should interest you. If it does not, please forgive the intrusion. This message will not be repeated.

Five years ago, my wife and I accepted responsibility for a church youth activity that required a fair amount of funding ($2,000-$3,000 annually). There were no monies available. After several other ventures, we quickly settled on a fundraising program that has proven very successful with results that have been surprising. For the last four years, with adult supervision, the kids have made a very special pumpkin based dessert that is well suited to Thanksgiving and Christmas. We then wrapped and froze these for distribution right before each holiday. Some things we discovered over the years.

· This is not a get rich quick scheme. It takes work, but the return has consistently been over 500% of the investment.
· We make the desserts for around $1.50 each, worst case, and sell them for $7.00, though we know others who charge more. Each serves twelve to fifteen people.
· It uses a very simple recipe that is difficult to mess up.
· We started advertising by handing out small samples, but had to stop that practice because we could not make enough product to fill the orders generated.
· Past customers now contact us at the holidays to make sure they will have the product for themselves and as gifts to friends.
· Last year, several businesses ordered them in quantity to give as gifts to their clients.
· Once frozen, they have been thawed out and served as late as ten months later with no noticeable loss of quality.
· The workers who made them seemed to always mess one up badly enough that it could not be sold, but had to be eaten right then.

We have also made this dessert for our own use and it has become a tradition with us. We enjoy it at home and bring it to family gatherings and holiday carry-ins at the office and friends' homes.

If your family enjoys traditional holiday foods, or if you are involved in fund raising for groups that are willing to invest time and effort for a good return, information can be acquired as follows;

Send a check for $7.00 (the cost of one dessert) to AFD, P.O. Box 615, Winona Lake, IN 46590. In the subject line of the check, write "Fundraising Desserts". Make sure that the address is on the check where you would like the information sent. Upon receipt of the check, the information will be mailed within seven business days. We will also include a bonus recipe for another pumpkin dessert which we make for our family, for gifts, and for fundraisers.

If you feel you could benefit from these recipes, or are interested in trying the dessert out this year before using it to raise money with in subsequent years, we would love to hear from you.
