Getting There

Brno is located within a two hours' driving distance from three European capitals: Prague, Vienna, and Bratislava. There are no flights from these cities to Brno but driving or taking a train or a bus are convenient options. A train ride from/to Prague takes about 3 hours, from/to Vienna about 90 minutes. Tickets sell for about €35 and €12, respectively.

Flying into the Vienna airport (VIE)

Vienna airport is an international airport with good train connections to Brno (there is a train station directly underneath the airport) but usually you need to switch trains at Vienna Main train station. Possible connection is every hour or two. Price can change depending on how soon you will get the ticket. With current price (in May) around €24. You can buy tickets at OBB or ČD eshops.

Flying into the Brno airport (BRQ)

Brno Airport is a small international airport near Brno. This is a good option if you are coming from London (Stansted), Milano, Malaga, or Rome. From the airport (letiště in Czech), city bus E76 (every half hour) will take you to the city center (19 minutes) and drop you off next to the main train station (Hlavní Nádraží in Czech). A cab ride will cost about 300 Czech Crowns (€11).

Flying into the Prague airport (PRG)

Prague airport is also an international airport, but somehow has a worse connection to Brno. There is a direct Airport Express (AE) bus line to the Prague main train station, and from there train to Brno is every hour, look for a line going through Pardubice for the shorter route (2 hours and 40 minutes). You can buy a ticket together for the Airport Express and train to Brno at ČD eshop. The route from the airport to the Main train station is 28 minutes. The price of the ticket at least a week before costs approx. 300 CZK.

Alternatively you can take a public transport bus (Line 59) to Nádraží Veleslavín and from there Subway A to Museum, and transfer there to Subway line C and one stop to Main Trainstation.
