Liaison statement

Dear Mr. Holman,

IEC/TC 100 is responsible for the preparation of international publications in the field of audio, video and multimedia systems and equipment. These publications mainly include specification of the performance, methods of measurement for consumer and professional equipment and their application in systems and its interoperability with other systems or equipment.

In the TC 100 meeting held in Sept. 2006, we endorsed the establishment of TA 10 (TA is similar to a SC in ISO/TCs): Multimedia e-publishing and e-book, as shown in the attachment 100_TA10(Berlin_TS)11.

We evaluated ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 34 perspectives. Document description and processing languages will actually provide a base technology for TC 100, in particular TC 100/TA 10 activities. TC 100 would appreciate to have a formal liaisonship with your subcommittee.

If your subcommittee would be interested to have the liaisonship with TC 100/TA 10, we can appoint Dr. Yushi Komachi as a liaison representative to JTC 1/SC 34 from IEC/TC 100/TA 10. It is our position that the liaisonship would contribute to both JTC 1/SC 34 from IEC/TC 100/TA 10 activities.
