Liaison statement to SC29/WG11 from SC34/WG2 on Open Font Format

SC34/WG2 thanks SC29/WG11 for the liaison statement (SC29/WG11 N7977) on Open Font Format. SC34/WG2 recognizes the importance of Open Font Format and agrees with that the technical content of the standard should not modified and should remain exactly the same as the OpenType format version 1.4 font format specification.

SC34/WG2 reviewed the FCD text (SC29/WG11 N7911) and provide the following comments from the international standardization point of view:

1 Scope

The 1st, 2nd and 3rd sentences of para 2 "Multimedia applications require ... including scalable font technology." should be removed. They are user requirements rather than scope descriptions.

2 Normative References

The reference "TrueType Fundamentals" should be removed (or indicated in Bibliography) as it is not cited in the text.
