Caroline will also arrange your transportation between the hotel and the
airport and between the hotel and the meeting site. If you will be driving
yourself to the meeting, please let Caroline know so that she can arrange
parking for you.

To ensure that a Security Pass can be prepared in advance for you, please
be sure to supply Caroline with the information requested in the Meeting

Security:
All delegates must prominently display a valid, specially encoded security
pass while in the MERANT building. Security Passes will be available for
collection from Reception. Passes for the WG4 meeting will be prepared
from the national body delegate lists.

Weather:
The 'official' climate data says the average maximum temperature in May is
16C
(61F) and the average minimum is 7C (45F). The average rainfall for the
month
of May is 52mm (2.1 in). However, this temperature and rainfall information

will not be very helpful as the variation can be great. There is really no
hot
or cold or wet or dry season! Daytime temperatures can be in the range 10C
(50F) to 22C (72F). Sometimes temperatures can fall to 5C (41F) to 12C (54F)

at night. Rain is less predictable - it may be dry for the entire meeting or

rain most days! This is why the weather is an important topic of
conversation
in England! Bring warm clothing and rainwear and an umbrella (none of which
may be needed).

Rail Travel in the UK:
Rail enquiries can be made at 0345 484950 (local call rate). UK railway
timetable is at http://195.92.21.203/bin/query.exe/en. This web information

should be treated with some caution, especially for weekend travel when
trains
may be re-routed or re-timed.

For those staying on in the UK after the meeting, Monday 29 May is a Bank
Holiday so train services may run to a Sunday (a reduced) timetable on some
routes and have additional trains on other routes depending on the holiday
traffic expected.

General:
There are banks, a post office and a good selection of shops in Newbury
within
walking distance of the MERANT building. Since Monday 29 May is a Bank
holiday, public services may be different on that day. Most banks and many
shops will be closed.

Saturday activities:
On Saturday 20 May, we have arranged:
- A guided tour of Highclear Castle, which belongs to the Earl of Carnarven
who has amongst his belongings findings from King Tut's tomb and items
    depicting horse racing history.
- A champagne reception and lunch.
- A flat race meeting at the Newbury race course.
- A meal in the evening.
- Transportation for these events.
