Dear National Bodies and Secretariats:

Just a reminder that Electronic authoring tools for the preparation of
ISO and ISO/IEC standards are available on the ISO Web site for use by
Project Editors. Being in January 1998, ISO will require that all
documents be submitted using these tools. Please pass this reminder
along to Project Editors.

Electronic authoring tools for the preparation of ISO and ISO/IEC
standards ISO has developed a template and model document to support the
electronic preparation of ISO and ISO/IEC standards. These two aids to
authoring are designed to save a considerable amount of time and effort
in the preparation and processing of standards by providing on-the-spot
help concerning the drafting rules specified in the ISO/IEC Directives,
Part 3. The ISO model document is a simple style-sheet that may be used
in all popular word processing systems. The ISO template provides
additional automated features intended to further simplify document
preparation, but can be used only with Microsoft Word 6 and Word 7. The
ISO template and model document are available - together with their
associate user guide and reference manual - from the ISO FTP server.
