ISO/IEC JTC1/SC22/WG14 N1034 Title: WG20 liaison report Date: 2003-10-27 Source: Keld Simonsen WG20 - internationalization has just last week completed its meeting in California, USA. A revision of the TR 10176 annex A has been completed. An earlier version of Annex A was used for the development of C99. This work should probably be updated in WG14. The TR 14652 has been completed and it is under publication. TR 14652 has a POSIX-like definition of locales and charmaps, but the formats have been enhanced to cater for ISO 10646, and a number of new capabilities have been added. Some of the parts of the TR are considered controversial by a number of National bodies. The sorting standard 14651 is being amended, and the 2nd amendment is sent out for FPDAM ballot. The standard is updated to the repertoire of the Unicode standard 4.0. The standard will be transferred to SC2 for maintenance. WG20 has decided to submit the cultural registry standard ISO/IEC 15897 for FDIS ballot. WG20 has worked on a project on i18n APIs, JTC1.22.15435. This project has been disbanded in JTC1, for lack of sufficient progress. The draft submitted in WG14 N1027 is the last working draft from this project, and it is submitted for information. In accordance with JTC1's decision, WG20 has terminated work on this project. WG20 would like to collect information on available facilities for internationalization in various programming languages and systems. WG14 is encouraged to supply information on this.
