Meetings The following meetings of SC22/WG11 were held since the last report: January 30 - February 3, 1995 Maynard (MA), U.S.A. May 29 - June 1, 1995 Amsterdam (Netherlands) The following meeting is planned: September 25-27, 1995 Gaithersburg (MD), U.S.A. 2. WG11 Participation Participation in WG11 continues to be a point of concern. Although the situation is better than before (active participation from Japan and Sweden at the last meetings), the fact it is still basically a `one person per country representation' could make attendance at meetings unpredictable. Also, the fact that some representatives are only interested in one WG11 project and not in the other projects makes the picture look better than it actually is. Therefore SC22 Member Bodies are urgently requested to continue to pay attention to the support for the WG11 activities. 3. Work Item JTC1.22.16 - Common Procedure Calling Mechanism In response to a request from the last SC22 Plenary, WG11 produced an informative annex for LIPC on the differences between the LIPC IDN and the RPC IDL. The LIPC document (SC22/N1831) is now out for DIS ballot; the ballot closes on September 18, just in time before the next WG11 meeting. 4. Work Item JTC1.22.17 - Language Independent Datatypes DIS 11404 was approved, and the ballot comments were discussed during the WG11 meeting in January 1995. The final text of LID was established, but due to other obligations of the project editor not yet sent to ITTF for publication. 5. Work Item JTC1.22.28 - Language Independent Arithmetic, Part 1 This project is finalized: the document is published as ISO/IEC 10967- 1:1994. 6. Work Item JTC1.22.33 - Language Independent Arithmetic, Part 2 Drafts of this part of 10967 were discussed during the last meetings, and good progress was made. It was proposed to change the title of this part from Mathematical Procedures to Elementary Numerical Functions (and consequently the title of part 3 from Complex Arithmetic and Procedures to Complex Floating Point Arithmetic and Complex Elementary Numerical Functions), but no decision is taken yet. Any input on this subject is welcomed. Should WG11 decide to change the name(s) of the project, then approval of SC22 will be asked for by letter ballot. It is planned to produce the CD out of the September 1995 meeting. During the upcoming SC22 Plenary (September 1995) one of the project editors will give a presentation on LIA-2. 7. Work Item JTC1.22.34 - Language Independent Arithmetic, Part 3 The work on this part of IS 10967 (on complex arithmetic and procedures) will follow (in time) the work on part 2, 8. Language Independent Service Specifications Participation in this project remains a problem. During the May 1995 meeting lots of input was prepared for the project editor; it is planned to have a first working draft at the September 1995 meeting. 9. Liaisons Liaisons exist with the following SC22 WGs: WG2 - Pascal, WG3 - APL, WG4 - COBOL, WG9 - Ada, and WG15 - POSIX. Also, liaison representatives from SC24 (Graphics) and SC26 (Micro Processors) to WG11 have been appointed. Informal liaisons also exists with SC22/WG13 - Modula-2, SC22/WG17 - Prolog, SC2 - Characters, SC21/WG8 - RPC, and ECMA TC33 - PCTE. 10.
