This is to inform you of the results of the CD Registration
and Approval Ballot for the Revision of ISO/IEC 10967-1 -
Language Independent Arithmetic - Integer and Floating Point
Arithmetic, as per document SC22 N4348.
The Results are: Yes (without comments): 9 NB's, No: 1 NB (Japan),
abstain: 5; rest not voting.
This implies that the document is registered and that WG11 is
asked to prepare the (F)CD version.

Although no technical comments were submitted, if you are
aware of comments within your NB please send them either directly
to the project editor and/or myself, or send them to the WG11
emaillist, so that these can be taken on board before the FCD
documents are finalized.

The comments from Japan are (my summary) on the fact that the
document still contains Editor's Note's indicating that some
decisions still have to be made and hence the document is
considered not mature enough to check its technical soundness;
no further indication on any technical issue.
I consider these comments out of order because the ballot was
only about the very first stage of the process of the revision
of an existing standard.
Thus Editor's note's are in principle allowed and it is pretty
clear what the document will look like in the end.

The next stage is to prepare all three parts for simultaneous
FCD ballot; I hope that these ballots can start in the autumn
of this year. We will have a short (3-4 weeks) internal WG11
review on the documents before they are send out for ballot;
please watch your email and participate in this review.

Best regards,
- Willem Wakker

PS: JTC1 rules do not allow to publish the SC22 document on the
WG11 public website; if you want to see the document please
ask your NB or send me an email.
